Empire Plastics ensures customer requirements are adequate before communicating them to our suppliers.

Empire Plastics communicates the following requirements to our suppliers:  

A) The processes, products and services to be provided including the identification of relevant technical data. For example specifications, drawings, process requirements, and work instructions. 

B) The approval of products, services, methods, processes and equipment. Also the release of products and services. 

C) The requirements for the competency of personnel, including any required qualifications. 

D) The suppliers interactions with Empire Plastics. 

E) Control and monitoring of the suppliers performance to be applied by Empire. 

F) Verification or validation activities that Empire, or its customer, intends to perform at the suppliers facility. 

G) Design and development control.  

H) Special requirements, critical items, or key characteristics. 

I) Requirements for test, inspection, and verification (including production process verification).  

J) The use of statistical techniques for product acceptance, and related instructions for acceptance by Empire.  

K) The need for the supplier to

  1. Implement a Quality Management System
  2. Use customer-designated or approved external providers, including process sources (ex: special processes) 
  3. Notify Empire of nonconforming processes, products, or services and obtain approval for their disposition
  4. Prevent the use of counterfeit parts
  5. Notify Empire of changes in products, process or services. Which includes changes of their suppliers or location of manufacture, and obtain Empire's approval
  6. Flow down to suppliers the applicable requirements, including customer requirements
  7. Provide test specimens for design approval, inspection/verification, investigation or auditing
  8. Retain documented information, including retention periods and disposition requirements 

L) Right of access by Empire, our customer and regulatory authorities to the applicable areas of facilities and to applicable documented information, at any level of the supply chain. 

M) Ensuring that persons are aware of 

  • Their contribution to product or service conformity
  • Their contribution to product safety
  • The importance of ethical behavior

Prevention of Counterfeit Parts

​​Empire Plastics plans, implements, and controls processes related to the product for the prevention of counterfeit or suspect counterfeit parts used, and including them in products delivered to the customer. 

Our counterfeit part prevention process considers the following:

  1. Training of appropriate persons in the awareness & prevention of counterfeit parts
  2. Application of a parts obsolescence monitoring program
  3. Controls for acquiring externally provided product from original or authorized manufacturers, authorized distributors, or other approved sources
  4. Requirements for assuring traceability of parts and components to their original or authorized manufacturers 
  5. Verification and test methodologies to detect counterfeit parts
  6. Monitoring of counterfeit parts reporting from external sources
  7. Quarantine and reporting of suspect or detected counterfeit parts
